There are several ways to enjoy the sights of Niagara Falls, but none provide such intimacy with the falls as the
Maid of the Mist boat tour.
Taking you first to the American Falls and then to the Canadian Horseshoe Falls, this trip will allow you to feel the thundering power at the base of these magnificent waterfalls from the railing of a diesel-engine boat. To protect your clothing from the falls' mist, a complimentary raincoat is provided with each ticket purchase.
History
Adventurers have been ferrying the falls since about 1818, starting out with a rowboat crossing downstream in the Niagara River. The Maid of the Mist launched its first wooden, steam-powered boat in 1846, and operated as transportation between Canada and the United States, but soon began providing a tourist attraction for visitors to explore the base of the falls.
The tour has since grown in popularity, replaced by steel ships carrying between 300 and 600 passengers with every trip.
