Niagara is world famous for the falls. It is also world famous for the miles of spectacular, botanical gardens and public greenhouses. One reason is the Annual Rose & Flower Show. This event is more than 55 years old, but never ceases to amaze and enthrall avid gardeners and fanciers, plus visitors who just walk through for the enjoyment of seeing mounds of prize winning roses in full bloom.
This show is one of the crowning achievements of the Niagara Falls Horticultural Society. The organization was born in 1917and is now part of the Ontario Horticultural Association. This is one of the most energetic groups of volunteers and gardeners. The Annual Rose & Flower Show is their chance to show off their talent and support the community at the same time.
The show is often held at the Niagara Falls Public Library, Victoria Avenue. Admission is free. It is an evening show, starting at 4pm and ending at 8pm. This is a judged standard show. The public are not admitted until the judging ends.
The Rose & Flower Show lets local gardeners showcase their heritage flowers, clones, prize winners, and cross breeds.
This show is a perfect end to a garden tour. Individual garden tours can include the Queensbor gardens, the Niagara Parks' Botanical Gardens including their Victorian rose garden, the Butterfly conservatory, and the Niagara green house. Each of these events will take the garden lover through time and around the world as they experience gardens from the past, to tropical rain forests, a one day experience that cannot be duplicated anywhere.
