The Niagara Falls Model Railway Show is a major event for anyone who loves model railways, or who would love to take a look into the country's past. The show covers 8000 square feet of vendors, layouts, and displays. It is hosted twice a year, in March, and in October, within the Niagara Tourist District. The favored venue is the Optimist Park Hall, Niagara Falls.
The Niagara Railway Museum is hosting one of its shows as one of the events at the Optimist Park on Canada day. The railway show will be located inside the main Optimist hall, and usually holds spot #1, just inside the doors. They take a large display to the show and set up three to four tables. This is becoming an annual event for the Museum.
Many volunteers help make the show a success. The show usually sells out, and has been over booked. Many people may have difficulty finding the organization. They recently changed their name to the Niagara Railway Museum. They are currently looking for a new home just outside of the Niagara Falls tourist area. The museum is considering property in Thorold, just beyond the city limits.
The museum's displays have received many new items this year including boxed cars, and even an engine. Anyone visiting for a second time will notice a major change. Admission for the shows is under $10, usually $5. The Canada day event is free. Children under 12 years old are always free. It is a fun excursion for anyone wanting a fun afternoon.
