Beechwood Golf Course in Niagara Falls, ON is a popular golf course and country club in the area. This battle today is a part of American history and referred to as the Battle of the Beech Woods. Beechwood became a golf course in 1960, but was used as farmland for the previous 100 years. A well-known part of Beechwood is the "Old Barn", built in 1883, which is the main part of their clubhouse. The barn originally stood where the ninth hole of the course is currently located. Before the "Old Barn" was moved, it was twelve feet higher than it is now. Visitors to Beechwood can view many artifacts having to do with the barn including a wool counter, wooden grain shovel, an oxen yoke, corn planter and many other interesting items. The inside of the country club has the original gas lamps from Queen Victoria Park in Niagara Falls. These two cast bronze lights are their most prized possessions. Other additions to the clubhouse have been the 19th hole lounge island bar, and two wood burning fireplaces. The bar was built from a very old red oak tree.
