The Buffalo Niagara Falls International Airport is a key transportation hub within the northern New York area, averaging over 130 flights daily in and out of the airport from the 15 fully staffed arrival and departure gaits. The airport has been designed to depict, when viewed from an aircraft above, an actual plane on the ground, ready for take off. Currently the facility offers non-stop flights to 18 different international and national cities, making it an excellent designation airport for those wanting to travel to Canada or stay on the American side of the Falls. As with any international airport customs services are available on site, as are duty free shops for those travelers heading out of the country on return flights. One of the most unique features of the airport is the tiled floor of the central concourse, which depicts the history of the area where the airport is located. This 13,000 foot floor mural is all made out of terrazzo tiles and is the artwork of Robert E. Calvo of Oregon.
The Buffalo Niagara Falls International Airport also offers some unique features in that they have a cell phone lot where those waiting for arriving passengers can remain with their vehicles at no cost, then have the traveler phone them for pick up at the terminal door. Handicap accessible parking and valet service is available at the airport 24 hours per day. Other features at the BNIA include wifi hotspot service within the terminal buildings, an art gallery for viewing the works of local artists, several restaurants, lounges and comfortable waiting areas.
