Golden Hill State Park in New York was named as one of Reserve America's top outdoor locations. It is located on the shore of Lake Ontario in the Town of Somerset in Niagara County, right next to the boundary of Orleans County. It occupies part of the Lake Ontario Plains, which extend from the Niagara Peninsula in Ontario, Canada, to Oswego. This state park features the Thirty Mile Lighthouse, which was decommissioned by the U.S. Coastguard in 1958, but remains a historic site. Visitors can take advantage of the interpretive programs at the lighthouse. The Lighthouse Cottage, once the home of the lighthouse keeper, is now available for rent. The cottage has a private picnic area, barbeque grill and picnic table, a fully equipped kitchen, silverware and dishes, furnished living room with a fireplace, three furnished bedrooms and a fully equipped bathroom with an old style bathtub. Guests must bring their own towels and linens. You will have a view of Lake Ontario that is unforgettable.
