Niagara Parks Botanical Gardens in Niagara Falls, ON
The Niagara Parks Botanical Gardens are a year round attraction to the Niagara Falls area, offering visitors an opportunity to stroll through over 99 acres of beautifully landscaped flower beds, ponds, gardens and showrooms of different native and imported plants. For those that would prefer to relax and ride, horse drawn carriage tours of the gardens are available over the summer months. Just a few of the specialty gardens include an impressive herb and vegetable garden, a shade garden, the outdoor butterfly garden and the amazingly beautiful perennial garden featuring native Canadian and imported perennials. The Botanical Gardens include the Butterfly Conservatory as well as an aviary and an arboretum. Admission to the Botanical gardens is free all year round, however some of the other facilities within the Botanical Gardens may have an admission or usage charge.
One of the most photographed areas of the Niagara Parks Botanical Gardens is the Rose Garden, which is home to over 2400 roses of various types. In addition the Botanical Gardens are also home to the largest tulip gardens in North America, which really bloom and bring the gardens to life in the early spring months. Even in the cold of the winter various plants and flowers are on display in the fully enclosed Niagara Parks Floral Showhouse and they hold a special Christmas plant exhibit in the month of December. There are actually nine different gardens in the Niagara Falls region and the website provides information on what flowers are best seen during different months and seasons.
