St. Paul High School in Niagara Falls is part of the Catholic School Board, and has been working with youth since 1982. The school encourages students to participate in activities, and supports them by hosting many different sports and cultural events. One of the most notable events is the Annual Focus Niagara Independent and Student Film Festival at St. Paul High School.
The school is close to the falls, only two major roads from the Niagara rivers, toward the north end of the city. Visitors can stay on Clifton hill, or any of the hotels on the lower river, and be within 15 minutes of the school. Visitors looking for something out of the tourist area can stay closer to highway 405.
The Annual Focus Niagara Independent and Student Film Festival attracts emerging talent from all around North America. The festival celebrates the creative talent of producers and videographers, from nearly every genre. A new category was created for Cell-Phone films. The Hosts are often Oscar winners and movie producers, notable names in the industry. However, the school's stand on nurturing youth ensures that the event is family friendly.
The event starts at 7:30pm, but come at least one hour early. You may also want to eat early, give yourself some time to settle before the festival begins.
Other events include a battle of the bands, Spots championships, and business events. Take a look at the schedule for this year's film festival on their website, and schedule your vacation to the area to coordinate, offering a chance to experience tomorrow's stars.
