The Cirque Niagara Tent Theatre was a must see attraction just south of Niagara Falls before it folded. Harmoniously combining the skills of high flying Russian acrobats with their well trained and in sync partner horses, the Cirque Niagara was a show that drew people in through curiosity. Once they were inside the giant tent built to hold 1500 people, the show they saw was amazing, right down to the intricate costumes. It was unlike anything they had seen performed live before, and if the Cirque had revamped their routine for season two, chances are high that people would have happily gone again season after season to see the magnificent show.
Creator of the Cirque Niagara said that he created the Tent Theatre Show "...because we wanted to help people to think about why we live in this world and why you were born. We want the audience to come with us through history and in order to better understand what might be possible in the future. Our horses, are there as our partners, actors in the show much like any other performer, rider or cirque artist." The show certainly did make people think with its artful synchronization of perfectly timed animals and acrobatic people defying gravity.
The Cirque Niagara Tent Theatre was a ten million dollar production that featured world class Cirque performers. It was specially designed for Niagara Falls through a partnership between Niagara Parks and Cirque Niagara. Though the company signed a ten year contract with Niagara Parks, they had to fold their tent due to small crowds, lack of interest in a repeated show from the year before, and the shows Russian performers facing expired Canadian visas.
